ROBODOCK
Robodock is a one of a kind, inventive, multi disciplinary, contemporary art festival.
What else then a Phoenix could be the theme of the last Robodock event after 18 years…
Artists from Europe and North America were invited to give all kind of performances – fire shows, industrial installations, multi-media acts during this event.
After four days of this inspiring conviction the bird dies in a show of flames and combustion
We are waiting for renewal or rebirth of the festival ever since…
Before this temporary good bye, Mike ter Veer ( general director and initiator )asked me to design a hand out as a memorial for this last episode.
This colourful and mythical illustration became the icon of this event, containing a hidden farewell revealed in the shape of a little boat.
With some easy folding moves, assisted by some lasercutting preparation, almost everyone could make a wishing boat to give their dreams or thoughts a go.
The boats of the wish makers, along with a huge firebird of wood, were burned on the last evening during a grand spectacle, The Robodock Phoenix Opera.
